چکیده

By studying the distances of a point to the sides, respectively the vertices of an equilateral triangle, certain new identities and inequalities are deduced. Some inequalities for the elements of the Pompeiu triangle are also established.

On the Optimality of Napoleon Triangles

An elementary geometric construction, known as Napoleon’s theorem, produces an equilateral triangle, obtained from equilateral triangles erected on the sides of any initial triangle: The centers of the three equilateral triangles erected on the sides of the arbitrarily given original triangle, all outward or all inward, are the vertices of the new equilateral triangle. In this note, we observe ...

Packing and Covering a Unit Equilateral Triangle with Equilateral Triangles

Packing and covering are elementary but very important in combinatorial geometry , they have great practical and theoretical significance. In this paper, we discuss a problem on packing and covering a unit equilateral triangle with smaller triangles which is originated from one of Erd˝ os' favorite problems.

A Characterization of All Equilateral Triangles in Z

This paper is a continuation of the work started in [1] and [2]. We extend one of the theorems that gave a way to construct equilateral triangles whose vertices have integer coordinates to the general situation. An approximate extrapolation formula for the sequence ET (n) of all equilateral triangles with vertices in {0, 1, 2, ..., n}3 (A 102698) is given and the asymptotic behavior of this seq...

Similar Triangles, Another Trace of the Golden Ratio

In this paper we investigate similar triangles which are not congruent but have two pair congruent sides. We show that greatest lower bound of values for similarity ratio of such triangles is golden ratio. For right triangles, we prove that the supremum of values for similarity ratio is the square root of the golden ratio.

Metric Geometry and Random Discrete Morse Theory

How to put a metric on a given simplicial complex? One way is to declare all edges to have unit length, and to regard all triangles as equilateral triangles in the Euclidean plane. This yields the equilateral flat metric, also known as regular metric. Many other options are possible; for example, one can assign different lengths to the various edges. The metric is called acute (resp. non-obtuse...
